One of the things I learned the hard way was that it
doesn’t pay to get discouraged. Keeping busy and making
optimism a way of life can restore your faith in yourself...
The best part of New Year's Eve was people watching.
Aside from having a good time, I really had a kick
of all the glitter that was passing by. So many
were dressed up so festively. Was cool to see.
The shoes were also an interesting watch. This is
downtown and a lot of walking is involved. But they
looked good. What caught Arvid's eye was the sign that said
"cash only" Arvid is a cash man, and here in Fort Myers
quite a few still only pay with cash. Arvid loves that.
With all the festivities going on we still stay busy.
There is always something to do at the house. This time
my dad and Arvid worked together setting up some shelves
in the garage. Arvid said he had a good time working
with my dad. As always Home Depot saves the day.
Arvid said we should start the year on a sweet note, so
of course we had to take a walk downtown to our favorite
ice-cream shop. Everyone loves it. My parents and sisters when
they were here. I also had ice-cream on New Year's Eve and I asked
Arvid if he forgot. Seeing that he had a few drinks, starting
the New Year's Eve celebrations a little early with my dad.
We had a nice walk. I fed some birds and the ducks.
No squirrels were out today. As always, I look forward
to the sunset. It never disappoints. People gather around
everyday just to see it and take pictures. Just like me.
Arvid and I have started to almost binge watch
The Landman. Streaming on Paramount Plus. After all,
it has Billy Bob Thornton in it. After all it's about the oil
business and Arvid and I have a vested interest in it.
We celebrated a little with mom and dad on New Year's Eve
before we went out later in the evening. Everyone had a
good time, and I am always happy to be able to spend
time with them. Today we also see them again.
I hope everyone has had a good start so far of the New Year.
Remember we make our own choices. Life does not always
go our way, but with the right attitude we can "steer" it a little as
to how we would like it to be. Attitude makes a big difference.
Life’s battles don’t always go to the stronger
or faster man. But sooner or later, the man
who wins is the man who thinks he can...
