Just being my cute and fabulous self.
Living life in full cuteness mode...
Muir Woods National Monument. Another of the
places we explored. We walked until we almost dropped.
Could be the reason my knees are now killing me.
All that walking we did in San Francisco 😂
If you like the open woods and walking then
Muir woods is a must see. I'm not one for
hiking much, but I am glad we did the hike.
You might ask, what is so special about Muir Woods?
Muir Woods National Monument is in Marin County, California,
just a few miles north of San Francisco. The 558-acre monument
preserves one of the last remaining ancient redwood forests
in the Bay Area. Some of the redwoods are nearly 1,000
years old and reach heights of more than 250 feet.
It was a beautiful day for a hike in Muir woods. We did so much.
This is definitely one of the best times I have ever had.
As always we made time to stay hydrated 😂
Nestled between Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown
is a neighborhood known as North Beach. The neighborhood
is San Francisco's “Little Italy." It's not really called Little Italy,
this Italian-flavored neighborhood is called North Beach, and
has the massive Italian church. Of course we walked it.
We tasted a lot of delicious food in this neighborhood,
but the most delicious was the dessert. Simple butter cake.
Never had it before. It just melted in your mouth. We ate at
Original Joe's, a San Francisco institution, serving up
classic Italian-American fare since 1937.
We had to make a stop to the candy store. Same store
Arvid and I would frequent when we lived in Branson.
I also could not pass by this bakery without going in.
You see my step-daughter's name is Victoria😍.
We also went by The Tenderloin district. That's not
a place you want to go to. Sketchy to say the least.
The Tenderloin earned its name from the widespread
practice of police payoffs in the district that allowed
police officers to eat luxurious "tenderloin" steak
We also drove by the area called Painted Ladies. These
pastel-colored homes, standing shoulder-to-shoulder
on the gentle slope of Steiner Street, are called the
Painted Ladies. Also known as "postcard row.
San Francisco was chilly and very windy. Nancy and Lorraine
had to buy winter hats, and we all had to buy additional clothes
to stay warm. Most of the clothes we took was not used. We
always had on hoodies and jackets. Lorraine, Nancy and I
had on 5 layers at one time. Even so it was the best time.
Here at home all is good. Sniff and I are having a
great summer, and I love that he sleeps all night with
me. In the meantime I also "do my thing" Yeah, this
is definitely a good summer and it's not over as yet.
Wishing everyone a happy Friday and a happy weekend.
