A half-truth is the most cowardly of lies.....if you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything...
It's been said that it is hard to believe that a man is telling the truth when you know that you would lie if you were in his place...something we all do even though we may not want to admit it...we all tell lies in one form or another.
Telling lies come easy for some...it's their way of life while others may tell lies but see it as a necessary evil....let's call it white lies. Sure sounds better. Anyone who says to me they have never told a lie is already lying:)) As someone said we tell lies when we are afraid... afraid of what we don't know, afraid of what others will think, afraid of what will be found out about us. But every time we tell a lie, the thing that we fear grows stronger.
There are some that have made telling lies seem like just a daily occurrence. Nothing unusual about it...it's just how it is. In business it's been said that if you tell the entire truth then you are not a real business person.....then I must admit I must not have a great business sense because I prefer to deal with the truth. From the time we were little, my dad always told us, "the truth shall set you free" to this day I stand by that belief. Does not mean that I have not told little white lies either:)
A few weeks ago, I was at the doctor's office and as I was waiting I overheard a conversation....difficult not to since it was so loud. Two "business" people were planning a "business strategy" Let's just say I overheard more than I wanted to and most of it was made to sound like the truth. Overall it was pretty amusing but, let's just say not entirely truthful...at least that's how I figured it out from what was said:)) I am not that naive...I do know that sometimes a white lie is much better than the stark naked truth....as long as you are not hurting anyone....
I believe that no matter what one should always be truthful. Sometimes I have gotten into a lot of tight spots by telling the truth...just ask any of my sisters or my parents...even Arvid they will say that I speak before I think. Not always the best, but it is always the truth.
Telling the truth does not necessarily mean you have to tell everyone everything either. Truth is no one really wants to hear your entire life/sob story no matter if it's the truth or not so stick to basics and then everyone is happy and remember a single lie destroys a whole reputation for integrity....
Always tell the truth. Then you'll never have to remember what you said the last time....
until next time...
